NDO – The authorities of Ha Tinh province, the homeland of UNESCO-recognised World Cultural Celebrity Nguyen Du, is organising a ceremony on September 25 to mark the 255th birth anniversary and 200th death anniversary of the great poet (1765 – 1820). |
The information was announced at a press brief on communications work in Ha Tinh province on August 27. The organising board for the event has two plans for the ceremony – an outdoor large-scale ceremony at the Ha Tinh City Square or a small ceremony at the province’s Centre of Culture and Cinema, depending on the situation of the COVID-19 pandemic. The organising board, in coordination with the Association of Kieu Studies and the Ha Tinh provincial Department of Education and Training will hold a seminar entitled “The Vietnamese language in the Tale of Kieu” on the morning of September 25 in Ha Tinh city. An award presentation ceremony is also expected to take place before September 20 to present awards to winners of the contest on Nguyen Du and the Tale of Kieu. In addition, the 7th Nguyen Du Literature Awards is scheduled to be held before September 25. Other activities in celebration of the birth and death anniversary of the great poet are also scheduled to take place during September including the Vi Giam folk singing festival, exhibitions of artifacts and literary publications on Nguyen Du and the Tale of Kieu, a screening of a documentary film on the great poet Nguyen Du, and others.
